Altai climate is sharply continental. Openness of the Altai territory to Arctic ocean, Kazakhstan and Middle Asia facilitates the influence of both Arctic sea and dry steppe air masses.
Climate and nature conditions differences make for a variety of landscapes: dry steppe, mountain-tundra and subalpine meadows.
